||Are Ultramarines and Zinc Ferrites as “cool” as the benchmark high IR reflecting pigments?
We will be present at the 2015 Convention organized by the Surface Coatings Association of New Zealand from 24 to 26 of July at the Rydeges hotel in Rotorua. Richard Calvin, Business Manager from our New Zealand distributor, will deliver the lecture in our behalf. The formulation of “cool” Coatings is based on the use of pigments with low absorbance in the Near IR which are usually associated to Mixed Metal Oxides with high performance but also with high cost of coloration. In this paper we compare the NIR absorbance (and TSR) of our Ultramarines and Zinc Ferrites and its correlation
with the increase of temperature of the final coating surface with products accepted by the industry as cool pigments in order to review the idea of cool pigment and explore further possibilities of cost effective performance, mainly in the Blue and Beige color spaces but not only.
